Day-to-day itinerary

Day 1. Welcome to Zanzibar

You will be welcomed by our local guide at the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. They will then transfer you to your hotel in Stone Town where you will make your new home for a couple of nights. The Emerson on Hurumzi is an exquisite place that holds within its walls a lot of Zanzibar’s heritage.

Day 2. Stone Town and Spice Farm tours

Today you will get to see and know more of Zanzibar by walking around the narrow ancient paths choke-full of culture and history.

Situated on the western coast of Zanzibar’s Unguja Island, UNESCO-listed Stone Town is the oldest part of Zanzibar City and is the cultural heart of the island. You will be suprised by the number of markets in stone town which tell more about its past and present contemporary cultures.

Enjoy a delicious Swahili lunch after the stone town tour before heading to the spice farm.

Ever wondered how black pepper is planted and harvest? Or tumeric and cardammon? Well, that’s what you’ll discover at the spice farm and more.

After the spice farm tour, you will visit Chako Zanzibar, a social innovation project, that is recycling glass bottles into beautiful wares while creating employment for youth.

Day 3. A day at Chumbe Island

Chumbe Island is a fully protected island that is home to a stunning Coral Reef Sanctuary and Forest Reserve. You will witness the incredible biodiversity, rare species and abundant marine and forest life at this one-of-a-kind destination! If you love snorkerling, this paradise will amuse you.

Time goes fast on this island. Take time to enjoy the walks, snorkeling and incredibly delicious food – a fusion of Swahii dishes and sea food.

You will return to your hotel in stone town late afternoon. The evening will be for you to spend as you wish.

Day 4. A day at Tumbatu Island

We love taking you off the beaten paths. Tumbatu is a truly special island. The land, waters and the people’s culture are largely un- touched. We work with the community leadership to curate visitor experiences that are meaningful and respectful. You will enjoy meeting local fishermen in a boat ride as they share their knowledge, friendly local residents and walk the ocean floor as you bask in the most beautiful sand-bank and enjoy a local dish. You will also visit teh Shiraz ruins that date back to the 12th century!

You will head back to stone town where you will be served dinner at the hotel.

Day 5. Jambiani cultural tour

Today you head to the beach in Jambiani. We’ll start with a tour around to meet and get to know the locals and some of their economic activities.

You will be welcomed to Jambiani village to meet wonderful people that will share how to make coconut milk from the coconut, visit a sea weed farm, and even learn about local herbs that are time-tested by WaZanzibari to cure some illnesses.

Day 6 -8. Rest and Play at Jambiani Beach

The three days are for you to spend as you wish. You can rest and bask in the sun all day long or go for walks along the beach and interact with locals and other visitors.

Day 9. Departure

Today is your last day in Zanzibar. As they say, time flies when you are having fun.

After breakfast you will head to the airport for your departure.
